CAT6A and fiber are not opponents. In a well-designed network, each medium occupies the segment where it offers the best balance of performance, simplicity and useful life.
Where copper is efficient
CAT6A can deliver 10 Gb/s over 100 meters and carry power through PoE. It is a natural fit for access points, cameras, phones and workstations. Cable diameter, bend radius, bundle heat and grounding all matter to lasting performance.
Where fiber changes the equation
Fiber serves longer distances, high capacity and environments with electromagnetic interference. It also provides electrical isolation between buildings. Choosing multimode or single-mode should reflect optics, reach and future plans — not cable price alone.
