Completed engagement

PMSC: Asterisk PBXs and knowledge that stays with the team

Open-source IP telephony implementation and maintenance, paired with practical knowledge transfer to the PMSC technical staff.

PMSC: Asterisk PBXs and knowledge that stays with the team

The engagement for the Santa Catarina Military Police combined two inseparable outcomes: maintaining Asterisk IP PBXs and enabling the internal team to understand and operate the environment. Knowledge transfer was part of the scope from the start.

Telephony adapted to the operation

AstSer worked on IVRs, extension features, IP phone and ATA provisioning, call groups, trunks and recording. The work also covered LDAP integration, PHP code, MySQL databases, A2Billing, CDR tables and Bash scripts. E1 trunks using MFC/R2 or ISDN completed the landscape.

Support could be delivered on site or remotely under PMSC security requirements. Service interruptions required extended availability, while common tasks had reference times that made execution more predictable.

Open source needs engineering, not improvisation

  • documented SIP and IAX configuration;
  • server backup and restoration;
  • data synchronization and billing;
  • customization aligned with institutional workflows;
  • direct guidance for responsible technicians.

A foundation for later projects

The work demonstrated how open platforms can serve complex public operations when architecture, security and training advance together. The goal was not only a working configuration, but usable knowledge left behind.
